SolarCity Commercial PowerStations are made up of the following components:
- Solar Panels. Solar panels are made up of photovoltaic cells, which convert sunlight into DC power.
- Inverter. An inverter is a device that converts DC power from the solar panels into the standard AC power that is used in your facility.
- Electric Panel. The electric panel, or breaker box, contains the fuses and breakers that distribute electricity throughout your facility.
- Utility Meter. The utility meter measures the flow of electricity between your facility and the utility grid.
- Utility Grid. The utility grid is the network of distribution wires that is maintained by your local electric utility. You will remain connected to the grid after your solar system is in place.
- SolarGuard Monitor. This device continually tracks the performance of your solar system and reports the data to us so that we can make sure your system is producing solar energy at optimum levels.
- Your SolarCity PowerPortal. After your system is installed, you can log in to our secure web site to check your system performance, as reported by the SolarGuard Monitor. Find out how much power your system is generating any time you like.
Each SolarCity PowerStation is composed of solar panels, mounting hardware and associated structural elements, and is created to the custom specifications of each customer. No PowerStation is the same. SolarCity will come to your place of business to determine the best size, mounting arrangement and positioning for your PowerStation, and present you with a detailed design and installation plan. SolarCity PowerStations are designed to work in parallel with the electric utility grid, allowing you the ease and comfort of generating electricity during daylight hours and drawing from the grid during nighttime hours. We will help you set up a net metering relationship with your local utility, enabling you to sell excess power back to the utility during peak hours when rates are high and buy electricity during non-peak hours when rates are low. This ensures that you will never experience any interruption in your electric service.
Administrative Services
Our goal is to make it easy to switch to solar.
To accomplish that, SolarCity will:
- Demonstrate financial value. Study your site and energy use to demonstrate how solar can save you money.
- Identify financial incentives. We will identify each and every rebate, tax incentive and special program for which your business is eligible.
- Rebate administration. We obtain and complete all paperwork and perform all follow-up required to receive state rebates. We even help you finance part of your system by floating the rebate and only billing you for the post-rebate amount.
- Tax incentives. We’ll provide the paperwork you’ll need to enable your tax advisor to file your tax returns so that you can take advantage of all available tax credits and deductions.
- Building permits and inspections. We will handle all interaction with local permit offices and will be present during the final site inspection.
- Handle all interconnection administration. We will initiate any necessary agreements with the local utility company and schedule all required site inspections. We’ll manage the inspections; you don’t even have to be there.
- Help you to maximize ROI. From cash purchases to custom financing solutions, SolarCity will work with you to create a payment strategy that is tailored to the needs of your business and designed to make good financial sense well into the future.
